Description
On the 10'000 pages DB, I tried to put a end date to tomorrow on the home page. This is the result:
2007-06-11 10:12:15,031: INFO [org.jahia.bin.Jahia] - Processed [/jahia/Jahia/engineName/pageproperties/op/edit/pid/1] user=[root] ip=[127.0.0.1] in [1659797ms]
During all this time I have a work in progress window that runs and blocks the end-user.
So I agree that we need to put all the recopies of objects in edit mode in order to gain time in live mode afterwards. However certain tasks could perfectly be done in back-end task on a dedicated processing server. Most of our main customers have a dedicated processing and indexing server. So let's use it. So I really prefer having a message: "your job was scheduled and will be exectued as a background task" (or jus closing the pop-up) rather than letting a user waits for 2 hours that his pop-up closes. The result is the same. But in terme of user comfort and good experience, it is far, far better to get your hand directly after your action (even if afterwards you have locks that prohibit you to edit sub-object of content or things like that) that to be in the blue and to wait for hours that your "please wait" logo is finishing.
